I am a corporate and securities attorney who is passionate about entrepreneurial people and businesses, and the angel and venture capital that seed their success.
I provide counsel for matters including, but not limited to, equity and asset purchase and sale transactions, founders' agreements, IP licensing agreements, convertible debt and preferred equity capital financing, incentive equity award plans and outside general counsel contract drafting and negotiation.
My clients fall into a range of industries, including mobile technology, financial services, hospitality (bars, restaurants and taverns), consumer packaged goods, retail e-commerce, web and software development and real estate investment.
My motivation to practice law is to have an important role in the success of my clients, whether that is by protecting them, putting them in touch with the right partners or investors, or being the ear that will listen and understand the issues that an entrepreneur faces. As an entrepreneur who has gone through the ups and downs of starting and running a business, I truly do understand what many of my clients are going through, and I think that makes me more valuable to a client than any amount of legal knowledge that I could ever provide.
Prior to joining the founding team at Axia Law, I co-founded and ran Whiting Maratea LLP, where I spent sixteen months putting the building blocks in place for my practice. Starting a law firm would not have been possible without valuable experience in law at Horwood Marcus & Berk, Porsche and National Railway Equipment Co., and in finance at HSBC.
